The goal of the bridal registry is for you & your significant other to receive everything you will both need to make your house a home. Although it gets exciting making a list of all the things you want, try to think practically. Here are some tips to consider when registering for wedding gifts:
Register Early
As soon as you’re engaged, start registering! The sooner you register, the sooner your friends & family can shower you with gifts for your future home.
Shop Together
The wedding gifts are for both of you, so you should be registering for these gifts together. It’s alright to compromise; if he wants to choose the electronics, then you can choose the bedding. Compromise is key.
Register For What You Want
Register for anything you think you’ll need to complete your home together.
Think Practically
Try to avoid filling your registering with random items you’ll probably never use. Figure out what you already have & then register for what you don’t.
Return Policies
Before registering for gifts at a specific store, inquire about their return & exchange policies. Most stores will accommodate your needs if your guests purchased you multiples of the same items and are glad to help you exchange for another item or return the monetary value of the items.
Consider Everyone’s Budget
As much as you may desire $400 items, remember certain guests cannot afford to spend that amount. Make sure your registry has items ranged under $50, under $75 & under $100 and so on.
Be Gracious
Thank you notes should be sent within 2 weeks of receiving the gift. Gifts received on the wedding day should have thank you notes sent out within 1 month of your return from the honeymoon.
